Covid 19 Update

March 17, 2020

To our valued members:

The past couple weeks have been very eventful while spring hasn’t yet sprung and golf season hasn’t begun.  The Springbrook Board wants everyone to know that we are following the Coronavirus pandemic closely and are monitoring the rapidly evolving recommendations from the CDC and Iowa Department of Public Health.  With that in mind, the Board is canceling the April 4 Prospective/New Member Open House.  The Masters auction and viewing event is also canceled, and high school golf meets will start only after school announces resumption of classes.

The Board wants to assure members and guests that Springbrook is doing all it can to promote your safety by limiting large crowds in the Clubhouse, routinely cleaning frequently touched areas such as light switches, doorknobs, chairs, tables, countertops and restroom facilities; keeping hand gel readily available; practicing social distancing; eliminating popcorn and refillable drinks for now; and once golf begins, club golf carts will be sanitized after use.

Members can limit their personal risk by:

  • Washing hands routinely with soap and water, and using hand gel on and off the course

  • Avoiding hands to face

  • Coughing and sneezing into elbow, not into hands

  • Keeping 6 foot distance between others, including on the golf course (including riding in separate golf carts or walking the course)

  • Leaving the flagstick in the hole when putting (the flagstick might be contaminated)

  • Avoiding handling playing partner’s clubs and other equipment

  • Avoiding shaking hands after a round

  • Staying home if you are ill or think you have been exposed to someone with Coronavirus

Golf is still a great game that can be enjoyed safely during this difficult time with fairly minor changes in behavior.  The course will open soon, but the grill will remain closed through April.  Bar service will be available for consumption on the course only.  Come out and get some exercise, relax, enjoy a drink, and interact with your friends while observing proper precautions.

Keep in mind that CCs Supper Club is currently open only for curbside pickup or carry out.  Check CCs Facebook page for updated information.

Attached to this message is a link to an article from Golf Digest that all are encouraged to read: “Can you play golf amid coronavirus concerns?  With proper precautions, yes.”  Check it out.  We hope to see you at the Club soon.
